In the words of Lipe Court.. My musical career began in 2007, when I arrived in Europe, and since then I have performed in various places in the Basque Country, France and all along the coast of Spain. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to perform in the Canary Islands, Bali (Indonesia) and Australia, expanding my music to different audiences and cultures. I have participated in numerous surf events and festivals around the Basque Country, as well as performances in bars and cooperative events, always seeking to connect my music with people from all over the world. Currently, I own my own company, dedicated to weddings and events, where I continue to create unique musical experiences for my clients.
admira: When did you get started in music?
Lipe: Music is in my roots since I was little. I grew up in Bahia, a place where music is in the air and where the Afro-Brazilian influence is very present. As a child I was already singing with my middle brother, while my older brother played the guitar. When they stopped playing, I ran to the guitar and have not let go since.
As a teenager, I began to take it more seriously, but it was when I arrived in Europe that music became my livelihood. At that time, I was undocumented and it was the only source of income I could have. That experience not only strengthened my connection with music, but also taught me the value of dedicating myself to what I love, even in the most difficult circumstances.
admira: What do you look for in the sound of the guitar?
Lipe: For me, the sound of a guitar must convey emotions with clarity and depth. I’m looking for a warm, versatile and balanced tone that allows me to go from bossa nova to funk or even a more contemporary interpretation without losing the essence. A guitar should be a bridge between the musician and the audience.
admira: What made you choose the admira Crossover, Artesanía Series?
Lipe: It is a versatile guitar that combines the best of two worlds: on the one hand, it offers the comfortable touch of an electric guitar thanks to its narrower fingerboard, and on the other, it maintains the feel and warm sound of a classical guitar. This makes it an ideal choice for both traditional and contemporary styles. In addition, admira’s craftsmanship quality is unmatched, taking care of every detail to offer a versatile, comfortable instrument with an impeccable sound. I am very pleased and happy with the result, as the guitar exceeds my expectations and perfectly adapts to what I need as a musician.
Looking to the future… What would your ideal guitar be like that doesn’t yet exist?
I imagine a guitar that combines technology and art in a unique way. For example, an integrated system that allows you to modify the tone or the strings according to the style you want to play, with sustainable materials but that maintain a natural resonance. Something that is not only functional, but also innovative.
admira: Tell us, what plans do you have on the horizon?
Lipe: I am about to release a song by myself titled Sozinho no Litoral, which I recorded in Madrid. It is a song written in Portuguese and Spanish, and it will be released very soon. In addition, I am working on two new original songs that I am currently recording, and also on a very special version of Ilargia, by Ken Zazpi, in the Basque language. My goal with this song is to interpret it from my identity, fusing its essence with influences from Brazilian music.
By 2025, my biggest dream is to take my project to the San Sebastian Jazz Festival, an iconic stage that it would be a great honor to step on. Everything I am currently working on has the main goal of achieving that objective and continuing to share my music with the world.
